What underwriters review on almost every application

Program requirements differ, but 6 items show up on nearly every manufacturing funding file. Have these ready and you are ahead of most applicants:

  • Business legal name, EIN, entity type, and years in business
  • Ownership breakdown for every owner with a 20%+ stake
  • Most recent 3 to 6 months of business bank statements
  • A/R and A/P aging reports, as applicable
  • Government-issued ID for majority owners
  • A short description of your use of funds

What is inside the checklist

Documents by program

Every document each of the 6 programs asks for, organized so you can hand it to your bookkeeper and start collecting.

Typical time to fund

Real day ranges from first call to funds in the account, program by program. No 60-second miracles.

Common disqualifiers

The issues that stall or kill applications, worth knowing before you apply anywhere.

How we are compensated

You pay $0 in application, origination, or closing fees. Funding partners compensate us for our part only after you actually receive funds.

Funding requirements by program

The same lists that appear in the PDF, program by program. Timing ranges are directional: your actual offer depends on your customers, credit, revenue, and industry.

Invoice Factoring requirements

Turn outstanding B2B invoices into cash this week. Approval leans on your customers' credit, not just yours.

  • Invoices to commercial or government customers on net-15 to net-90 terms
  • A sample invoice plus signed proof of delivery or acceptance
  • A current A/R aging report
  • A customer list with contact information for verification
  • No UCC-1 lien on your receivables, or a current lender willing to subordinate

First advance typically lands 7 to 14 business days after onboarding. Recurring advances often fund same day.

Equipment Financing requirements

Buy or refinance machinery, CNC, robotics, packaging lines, or fleet vehicles. The equipment itself usually serves as the primary collateral.

  • A vendor quote or invoice for the equipment
  • Equipment specs, age, and condition (new and used both work)
  • 3 to 6 months of business bank statements
  • Owner credit consent (soft or hard pull, depending on the program)

Typically funds 3 to 10 business days after a full application.

Purchase Order (PO) Financing requirements

Covers supplier costs on a confirmed customer PO so you can deliver the order without draining cash.

  • A signed PO from a creditworthy B2B or government buyer
  • A supplier quote or pro forma invoice
  • Gross margin of roughly 20% or better on the transaction
  • Finished-goods or light-assembly transactions work best
  • A clear delivery timeline and logistics plan

Plan on 2 to 4 weeks for a first transaction.

Working Capital requirements

Short-term capital sized off your revenue trends. Built for bridges, growth pushes, and timing gaps.

  • $25K+ in average monthly deposits (higher for larger offers)
  • 6+ months in business
  • 3 to 6 months of business bank statements
  • No open bankruptcies or excessive NSFs

Typically funds in 1 to 5 business days.

Asset-Based Lending (ABL) requirements

A revolving line secured by A/R, inventory, and sometimes equipment. Best fit at $2M and up.

  • Trailing 12 months of financials plus an interim P&L and balance sheet
  • A/R and A/P aging reports and an inventory report
  • A borrowing base certificate (we help you build the first one)
  • Audited or reviewed financials for larger facilities

Expect 30 to 60 days including the field exam.

SBA & Term Loans requirements

Government-backed and conventional term loans for expansion, real estate, refinance, and larger equipment purchases.

  • 3 years of business and personal tax returns
  • Year-to-date P&L and balance sheet
  • A debt schedule and personal financial statement (SBA form)
  • A use-of-funds narrative and business plan for larger asks

45 to 120 days depending on structure and lender.

What happens once your documents are ready

The checklist gets your file in order. From there, the process looks like this:

  1. 1Start the conversation (Day 0)
  2. 2Placement with the right program and institution (Day 0 to 1)
  3. 3Secure application (Day 1 to 3)
  4. 4Underwriting (Day 3 to 7)
  5. 5Offers reviewed side by side (Day 5 to 10)
  6. 6Sign directly with the institution (Day 7 to 12)
  7. 7Funds land (Day 8 to 14)
  8. 8Back to work

Read the full 8-step process, check the current rate benchmark, score your file with the funding readiness scorecard, or read what underwriters look for in a manufacturing file.

Checklist and requirements questions

There is no single cutoff because each program weighs credit differently. Factoring and PO financing lean on your customers' credit more than yours. Equipment financing and working capital weigh the owner's credit more heavily. SBA loans expect the strongest file. If your score is the weak spot, say so early. A consultant can point you to the programs where it matters least.

Sometimes. A confirmed purchase order from a creditworthy buyer can carry a young company in PO financing, and equipment financing leans on the collateral. Most term products want 2 or more years in business.

That is common, and it is not the end. Banks underwrite to a narrow box. The institutions we work with include factors, equipment lenders, and asset-based lenders that weigh receivables, purchase orders, and collateral instead of tax-return income. A bank decline usually says more about the bank's box than your fundability.

No. It is an educational resource from Manufactor Finance, an independent commercial finance broker. We are not a bank, lender, or investor. Downloading it commits you to nothing, and it does not guarantee funding.

Funding partners compensate us for our part only after you actually receive funds. You pay no application, origination, or closing fees to us, and nothing additional is required from you for using us.

No. We do not write grants, file grant applications, or advise on them. Where grants appear on this site, they are listed for your own research only.
